MISSION STATEMENT

Cross Training Martial Arts is an international program whose goal is to promote cultural awareness and understanding by exposing students to high caliber instruction in various martial arts from around the globe. The trainings include high levels of physicality coupled with theoretical paradigms aiming to magnify the depths and efficiency of each art. The various workshops, seminars, classes and/or lectures are open to men, women, and children who are interested in a multifaceted training experience. In the words of Guro Dan Inosanto, “the goal is not the mere accumulation of knowledge”, but rather the provision of research tools to learn about the art of fighting in its totality and ultimately achieve self-discovery.

In an effort to better understand the present, one must study the past, which in turn will help him/her make better decisions for the future.

Special Thanks.

I would like to take this opportunity to write few words about the person to whom I owe everything in my martial arts journey and
far beyond.

All of our knowledge is the product and the sum of our experiences. We owe what we know to the people we meet, to the people we interact with. Some of these people were a brief acquaintance, and some we got to know in depth. We only got to spend a few hours with some of them, and some we got to know like the back of our hand. We are who we are in part because of these people. These are our mothers, our fathers, our sisters, and our brothers. They are our friends, our classmates, our teachers…

However, once in a lifetime comes an extraordinarily rare individual, a person who sees beyond the mundane interactions of daily life. A person whose mere company elevates, shapes, and transforms who you are for the remainder of your life.

How does one adequately express his appreciation and gratitude to someone who has given them the gift of sight? The ability to see and understand things as they never had before. I am referring to a person better known as the most knowledgeable martial artist in the world, the most authentic and genuine individual I have ever met, and probably one of the last true Grand Masters of our time, Magulang Na Guro Dan Inosanto.

Without martial arts I would certainly not be who I’m today, and knowing this overwhelms me with love and admiration for my instructor; for the wonderful gift he has given me. Through the years, time and time again, I witnessed him igniting passion and inspiration within others as he did for me. It is my honor and privilege to be able to call myself one of his students, to be able to help preserve the memory and spirit of his teaching, his philosophy, and his humor wherever I may go.

Rock n’ Roll will always have Elvis, basketball will always have Michael Jordan, and martial arts will always have Dan Inosanto.

Honestly, I don’t feel I could ever fully explain the deeply rooted emotion of appreciation I have for this man, so I’ll say it simply: Thank you, Guro. Thank you for taking me beyond the technique. Thank you for providing me with your guidance. Thank you for your constant unselfish dedication to show me an art that transcends to the practicalities of life itself. Thank you, Guro. Thank you for giving me that life.
